I’m the grandson of Faye, Ollie’s last daughter. I remember a number of conversations we had about her mother, though she was very young when she died. She said that Ollie died of an infection (most likely pneumonia or influenza), brought on by failing health from having (and raising) too many children. After her death, Aunt Sinai stepped in and raised Faye and Uncle Buster, until JK remarried.

One interesting story Grandma Faye told was that Ollie was first cousins with Samuel Clemmons (Mark Twain). Their mothers were sisters. That may help with your research.
