With my recent success of hunting down the parents and family of my 2nd Great Grandfather’s second wife, I thought I’d spend a little more time documenting what I do and don’t know about his first wife. Sometimes thinking through the process and making a checklist is helpful for me. What I do know:...

Update – June 5, 2010 I received the Obituary for Dewey S. Mercer in the mail today from the Tillamook Historical Society. In it it mentions a living sister “Hazel McCall, Sublimity”. This is much too much of a coincidence not to be her brother. Success! Another family member found. Now if I could...

The following is the headstone of my Great Grandparents William “Will” Ingram and his wife Minnie (Nees) Ingram. I noticed on their headstone that it also lists their marriage date as the 10th of November, and I always had it in my records as the 11th. Another reminder that it’s always nice to have...

The following is a rough table showing the pedigree for my maternal McCall family starting with my Great Grandmother Etoyl Montgomery who married Robert Lee McCall in 1920. The links that are located below their names are to the individual blog posts I’ve made. Since I’ve been focusing primarily on the paternal sides of...

Dr. Thomas “Tom” Marion Montgomery was my 2nd Great Grandfather. He is buried in the Lone Oak Cemetery in Stayton, Marion County, Oregon. I have visited there and have seen his grave. The Lone Oak Cemetery is on a nice hill on the edge of Stayton in a mostly residential neighborhood overlooking the valley....

Will and Minnie Bell (Nees) Ingram are my Great Grandparents through their daughter Syble Bell Ingram. Only one of their daughters is still living, Lucille. I’m working on getting in touch with her to see if she can tell me more about her parents. Here’s the family record I have for Will and Minnie...

I was pretty excited to come across my Great Grandfather’s WW1 Draft Card. His eldest son Tommy Lee McCall was actually killed while serving in the Navy in a boiler explosion. The McCall’s have a long history of serving their country. What’s great about the back of the card is it describes his height,...

Robert Lee “Bob” McCall was my Great Grandfather. I always knew him as “Grandpa” and would climb up into his lap and listen to his pocket watch he kept in the front pocket of his overalls. I remember many meals over at my Great Grandparents house where “supper” was served at near noon and...

Robert Lee “Bob” and Etoyl McCall were my Great Grandparents. Their son Harold Dean McCall who married Syble Ingram were my Grandparents. I knew his whole family, with the except of his oldest son who was killed before I was born. I did have the opportunity to meet his only daughter, who was kind...
